In line with the Women’s Month Celebration the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office conducted the Harmonized Maternal Nutrition & Infant and Young Child Health and Nutrition Training under its Nutrition Program last March 9-10, 2023 at Sumadat, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur in partnership with the Department of Health Field Office IX.
Based on global evidence, promoting Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) is among the package of child nutrition interventions identified by the Lancet Series on Maternal and Child Nutrition that can bring down undernutrition particularly stunting significantly. It is also included in the WHO Essential Nutrition Action. The participants of this activity are the mothers of the Severe Acute Malnourish (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnourish (MAM) children of our Adopt SAM and MAM Program beneficiaries and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars of this municipality. During the said event, the participants received 4kg of Farm Produce Rice from the Municipal Agriculture Office.
